In December 2023, the PMO announced about ₹11,100 crore in projects for Ayodhya and its surroundings.

Ram Lalla’s consecration followed on 22 January 2024. In 2024, the Samajwadi Party won Faizabad.

Interpretation
A sacred landmark did not ensure parliamentary victory.

CLAIMED ≠ NONEXISTENT

A real city.
A religious claim.

Ayodhya stands on the Sarayu, Uttar Pradesh, India. The district government also calls it Saket.

  1. Text: Tulsidas praises Avadh as Rama’s birthplace before doha 16.
  2. Community and state: today’s district promotes the birthplace identification.
  3. History: the first proposer remains unresolved. Coordinates do not verify a birth.

TEXT / GROUND

The poem and
the title deed.

In the text: Rama is born in Ayodhya; the wedding party returns. These are devotional claims.

On the ground: the 2019 Supreme Court judgment provided for a temple trust and five acres for the Sunni Waqf Board.

The Court condemned the 1992 mosque demolition. Its title ruling does not prove Rama’s birth.

INTERPRETATION

Ayodhya begins
the telling, too.

Tulsidas dates his beginning at Avadh to Rama’s birthday, Samvat 1631: 1574, in Lutgendorf’s account.

The poet’s beginning and Rama’s birth give Ayodhya two narrative roles. The wedding party also returns here.

Lutgendorf’s nested dialogues show why an itinerary alone cannot describe Bal Kand.

ANNOUNCEMENT / EXPENDITURE

₹11,100 crore
is a programme.

The announcement covers Ayodhya and its surroundings, mixing inaugurations with foundation stones.

An airport, a station and a township are components of this wider programme.

Interpretation
The stated value shows scale. It does not establish spending, recipients or local benefit.

HOW THE LEDGER MAPS WORK

Modern ground,
not epic events.

Every mark shows today’s geography for a name the poem uses. None shows where an episode happened. Ancient borders shifted, so regions are dashed approximations.

Claimed anchor: a site a tradition or authority identifiesReal place named in a symbolic or comparative lineRiver course, Natural Earth 1:10mSchematic trace from sourced anchor pointsApproximate region or plateauMountain range

Eight places stay off the map: cosmological realms (Ocean of milk, Meru, Brahma’s realm, Vaikuntha, Amaravati, Bhogavati), Narada’s illusory city, and Trikuta, which no source places securely.

WHAT THE RECORD SUPPORTS

A sacred landmark.
A public investment.
A separate vote.

After projects worth about ₹11,100 crore were announced for Ayodhya and its surroundings and Ram Lalla was consecrated, the BJP lost the encompassing Faizabad parliamentary seat in 2024 by 54,567 votes.

Interpretation
Development, devotion and electoral consent each require separate evidence.
